Estate Planning

by Fred Abramson

 Estate PlanningYou understand that you need an estate plan. But like many of your friends, you\‘ve been procrastinating because estate planning is unpleasant to think about. I am here to help. I will tell you everything that you need to consider when setting up your estate.  I will prepare all of your estate documents for you,  which include at least a will, health care proxy, living trust and a durable power of attorney.  The sooner you get your estate plan completed, the quicker you will feel certain that the people who you love will be provided for.

Estate planning is simply the process of disposing all of your assets after you die.  Who needs to think about it?

Once you begin your estate planning, you will understand:

  • Why you need a will;
  • The advantages of having a living trust;
  • The probate process and why you want to steer clear of it;
  • How to protect and provide for your children;
  • Why you probably don\‘t have to worry about estate taxes;
  • Why you need a retirement plan.

Estate planning is a great thing to do for your family.  Congratulations on even thinking about it.

Are you surprised by all the paperwork and details involved in getting a new small business up and running? It’s incredible, isn’t it?  There are many decisions you have to make, expenses that never stop, and every time you think you’ve got a handle on things, something else pops up.

I’ve got news for you: It doesn’t get any easier.  If you are a veteran business owner you know that there will be more paperwork, more details, more decisions.

But guess what? It’s worth it! I understand how excited you are about your business and you want to do everything for your business to succeed.

Your business can succeed, you know.  I’ve observed many start-up companies succeed.  But only sometimes.

But, I have observed many businesses go bankrupt. Some within one month.

Even though they worked hard and had the best of intentions, many business owners lose everything.  It’s ugly: tremendous debts, dreams and aspirations dashed. Many have to return back to work for the job they hate so that they can pay off their debts.

What makes the difference?  Why do some business owners amass great wealth while others fail miserably?

As a lawyer, I am probably not the one to tell you how to build a successful company.  But as a business attorney who represents people like you, I can tell you exactly how to make your business fail.

LITIGATION. Getting sued. Many business owners go out of business because of  a large judgment against them that they cannot pay.  Or, they spend so much on legal fees, it wipes them out.

Want to know something else?  It’s amazing, but in many cases these owners could have avoided the lawsuit completely, or protected themselves from personal liability.  They could have survived!

All they had to do was get some legal advice. In advance.

Before they signed a lease or contract.  Before they took on a partner or hired an employee.  Before they made business decisions involving serious legal consequences.

Ten minutes of legal advice may have prevented all that failure, bankruptcy, misery, and shame

But they don’t get that advice, do they?  And we both know why.

The cost.

On top of all the other expenses of starting and running a new business, there never seems to be enough left for legal fees.  After all, legal advice is expensive, right?

Not anymore.

The Law Office of Frederic R. Abramson offers fee structures that is more than billable hours.

There is a way for you to have the legal advice you need at a cost so low you would be a fool to turn it down.

Here is what it’s all about:

My firm has just introduced what I call the “Small Business General Counsel Plan.”  For a monthly retainer of only $400, you get up to two hours of free telephone consultations and attorney legal document review every month.

You can ask all the questions you want and get the money-saving, headache-avoiding answers you need. You can have me review and comment on contracts, leases, letters, forms and anything else you use in your business.  You’ll know what’s legal, what’s fair, and what’s not.  No surprises. No more doubts.

Do you realize what that means? It means you can sleep like a baby at night knowing that your attorney is “on call.”  It means that you can get the answers that you need, when you need them, so you can quickly get back to running your business.

It means never having to “blindly” sign anything that could cost you thousands of dollars more than you should have paid because you didn’t have time to read the “fine print.”  It means never having to make uniformed decisions that could get you sued for hundreds of thousands in damages.

It means incredible piece of mind for you and your family.

That alone must be worth more than $400 a month to you, yet that’s all it costs.

Call me at 212–233‑0666 to get started today or ask me any questions about how the plan could help you achieve your goals.

I look  forward speaking with you.

Fees

by Fred Abramson

Retaining my office as your legal counsel is easy. Simply contact my office for a free consultation.  Feel free to meet me at my office located in the Wall Street area of Manhattan to discuss your legal matter.

Initial Consultation: Free

Hourly Rate: $250

Civil Litigation: $250 per hour.  Minimum retainer:  $3,500

Sample Business Services – Flat fees:

Under a flat-fee arrangement, I represent you for a single fee, billed up front. You pay the court fees and out-of-pocket costs related to your case.

  • Small Business General Counsel Plan: $450 per month
  • Non-Disclosure/Confidentiality Agreements: starting at $750
  • Lawyer letter (includes 2 hours of legal services): $500
  • Employment Agreement: starting at $699
  • Business sale: starting at $3,000
  • Custom contract drafting and review:  starting at $1,000
  • Single member LLC’s: starting at $499 plus state and government filing fees
  • Shareholder and Operating Agreements: starting at $1,499
  • Commercial lease review and negotiation: starting at $799
  • Independent Contractor Agreement: starting at $999

I try to give a flat-fee estimate in all cases, not just those listed above. However, in some cases it is difficult or impossible to estimate the amount of work or costs involved. In those cases, an hourly-fee arrangement is usually a better fit.

Contingent-fee arrangement

I take cases on full contingency in cases where the defendant must pay my attorney fees. I can only take a case on contingency if you will be suing someone else. If I agree to take your case on contingency, you will not pay me anything unless I recover money for you.

I can only accept a very narrow category of cases on contingency. Even though the defendant must pay my attorney fees, every case involves a significant investment of my time and money, so I am highly selective.

Immigration reform is in the news everyday. It is important to act now and consult with an attorney to guide you through the complex process of immigration law.

As your personal advisor, I will lead you and/or your company through the maze of immigration laws, providing common sense solutions for aliens who want to work or immigrate into the United States.   I have helped an array of different companies, such as those in the I.T. and import/export industries obtain employment visas for workers such as programmers and marketing specialists. I have also successfully obtained permanent residency and citizenship for individuals and their families from all over the world.

Immigration status is usually a matter where time is of the essence.  Unfortunately, USCIS  is a governmental agency with a backlog of hundreds of thousands of applications.  I will provide a personal road map with you and/or your company so that your case will be resolved in the fastest possible manner.

My immigration practice includes representation for business/employment immigration, family-based immigration and deportation. I provide confidential advice relating to immigration and naturalization, employment, visas, citizenship, asylum and deportation.
