Justice Edwards is the Administrative Judge for Civil Matters in Kings County. She is assigned to COMM-4, COMM-6, PRSGP-E, Part 1, and NJTRP-Trial, and she sits in Courtroom 775 at 360 Adams Street. She is no longer assigned to Part 80. Part 80 is now assigned to Hon. Patria Frias-Colón, who sits in Courtroom 441 and also handles MMESP-6.

Motion Practice
All cases must be converted to e-filing, and a motion will be adjourned if the case is not e-filed. Courtesy copies of e-filed motions are not required. Every e-filed document must carry page numbers, including expert affirmations and affidavits, and must be a text-searchable PDF.
Adjournments and Conferences
All counsel and unrepresented litigants must be notified of an adjournment request before the application reaches the court. A request based on counsel's engagement elsewhere must be accompanied by an Affirmation of Engagement under 22 NYCRR 125.1. No adjournment is granted without the court's approval, and attendance is required if no response is received. Except in an emergency, an application to adjourn a conference must be emailed to chambers at least five business days before the conference date and must state the reason. Proposed dates must appear in the original email. The calendar is called at 10:00 AM and again at 10:30 AM. Chambers will not adjourn appearances in the Preliminary Conference Part, the Central Compliance Part, or the Note of Issue Final Conference Part; counsel must contact those parts directly.

What to Expect
Judge Edwards runs an organized courtroom. She expects attorneys to arrive prepared and to know the procedural history of the case. If you are covering for the attorney of record, make sure you have been thoroughly briefed on the case status, all pending motions, and any outstanding discovery issues.
Tips
- Know the case file. Judge Edwards will ask specific questions about the status of discovery, what has been exchanged, and what remains outstanding. Do not show up with a vague understanding.
- Communications must comply with Part Rules. Non-compliant communications will be disregarded. Read the posted Part Rules before sending anything to chambers.
- Be ready on consent matters. If you are appearing on a consent adjournment or stipulation, have the paperwork ready to hand up.
Recent Field Notes (Spring 2026)
- Per diem coverage availability is constrained. Brooklyn per diem networks have limited bench depth for this Part. Firms relying on outside coverage for a motion or summary judgment appearance before Judge Edwards should confirm a covering attorney several days in advance rather than at the last minute. The court does not adjust to coverage gaps.
- Motion day expectations. Summary judgment and dispositive motion appearances move quickly. Counsel should be ready to address the merits, not just procedural status. Substantive familiarity with the moving and opposing papers is expected.
- August 5, 2026 re-verification. Part reassignment. Justice Edwards now sits as Administrative Judge for Civil Matters and is assigned to COMM-4, COMM-6, PRSGP-E, Part 1, and NJTRP-Trial. Part 80 has been reassigned to Hon. Patria Frias-Colón in Courtroom 441. Justice Edwards remains in Courtroom 775. Anyone sent to Part 80 expecting Justice Edwards should confirm the assignment before the appearance date.
