What to Expect

The Bronx operates at its own pace, but Judge Parker-Raso in Room 706 actively manages cases and does not tolerate discovery delays. If discovery is outstanding, the court will ask why it is taking so long and will set tight deadlines. Do not walk in without a clear explanation for any delays and a concrete plan for completion.

Tips

  • Discovery delays will be questioned. The court actively presses on outstanding discovery. If responses are overdue, expect the court to ask why and to impose short deadlines. We have seen 14-day turnarounds ordered when discovery is stalled.
  • Fill out the PC order form in advance. Judge Parker-Raso uses fillable preliminary conference order forms. Download them from nycourts.gov and complete them before you arrive. Showing up without the form completed will slow everything down.
  • Labor Law matters have a separate form. If your case involves Labor Law claims, use the Labor Law PC Order form, not the general one.
  • Settlement conferences require preparation. The Pre-trial/Settlement Conference Information Sheet must be submitted. Come with actual settlement authority.
  • Room 706. Part IA-21 is in Room 706 at 851 Grand Concourse. Security lines can be unpredictable. Allow extra time. Parking in the area is limited.
