Appearances Are Required
“All motions shall be made returnable on Mondays at 9:30 AM, when the calendar will be called promptly.” Part 24 does not take motions on submission only; appearances are required.
In Person or Virtual
An in-person appearance is required for all orders to show cause, all discovery and discovery-related motions, and cases in which an appearing party is self-represented. A virtual appearance by Microsoft Teams is required for all other motions.
Failing to Appear
“The moving party's failure to appear at the calendar call will result in the motion being ‘Marked Off.’ The non-moving party's failure to appear may result in submission of the motion on default.” Motions marked ready are conferenced after the first call.
Who Appears
“Counsel who appears before the Court must be familiar with the case and authorized to enter into settlement.”
Adjournments
A motion may be adjourned on consent by a fully executed stipulation with a proposed date, uploaded to NYSCEF and submitted to the Part Clerk no later than two business days before the calendar date. Absent extenuating circumstances, consent adjournments are limited to two.
Other Requirements
“Part 24 is not a Compliance Conference Part and does not conduct Preliminary or Compliance Conferences.” No telephone inquiries about motions may be made to chambers; use qscpart24@nycourts.gov. Do not mail courtesy copies. Documents requiring the Justice's signature are e-filed and emailed to the part.

Before You Send a Covering Attorney
Every motion on this calendar needs someone on it, in the right format.
- A movant who misses the call loses the motion to a mark-off. An absent opponent risks a default submission.
- Orders to show cause and discovery motions are in person. Everything else is on Teams.
- The covering attorney must be authorized to enter into settlement.

Our office appeared for a plaintiff on the virtual Monday calendar, where a defendant's summary judgment motion was returnable. At a co-defendant's request, the motion was adjourned about sixteen weeks. This is an account of one appearance on one date, not a published rule.
