Published Part Rules

Summarized from the published Individual Part Rules and E-Filing rules, effective July 24, 2019. Source: nycourts.gov | Last verified: August 5, 2026

Two Official Sources Disagree. Confirm the Courtroom.

The Ninth Judicial District Judges and Parts page lists Justice Vazquez-Doles among the sitting justices but carries no link to her Part Rules. The individual Part Rules PDF still resolves on nycourts.gov, but it is dated July 24, 2019 and may not reflect the current courtroom or calendar. Those rules place the part in Courtroom 5. We have set out the published rules below because they are the only published source, and we have flagged the conflict rather than choosing between them. Confirm the courtroom and the calendar time with the Part Clerk, Lorraine DeJesus-Hall, at (845) 762-5930 before you travel to Goshen.

Practitioner Intelligence

From attorneys who have appeared in this courtroom. These are observed patterns, not published court policy. Last updated: August 5, 2026.

What to Expect

Justice Vazquez-Doles asks detailed questions about every case on the docket. Come prepared to discuss the full status of discovery, depositions, and settlement posture. This is not a courtroom where you can appear, request an adjournment, and leave in five minutes. The judge will want to understand where the case stands and what remains to be done.

The court will assign settlement conferences proactively, even when the gap between demand and offer is large, if the judge believes engagement between the parties could be productive.

Tips

  • Prepare for extensive questioning. Justice Vazquez-Doles will ask about the status of every aspect of the case: depositions completed, medical records obtained, independent medical examinations conducted, offers and demands exchanged. Have all of this information at your fingertips.
  • Know which call you are on. Conferences run at 9:15 AM, and settlement and pre-trial conferences at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. The second call is at 10:30 AM, and default motions are taken there.
  • Adjourn by fax, on the part form, 48 hours out. Consent alone does not adjourn anything in this part. If the court does not approve the application, everyone appears.
  • Settlement conferences are working sessions. If your client has a case on for a settlement conference, the client should be present in person. The court expects both sides to come prepared to negotiate.
  • The court tracks offers and demands. Be ready to state your current position on the record. If there has been no movement since the last conference, be prepared to explain why.
