Conferences Are in the DCM Part
“All preliminary conferences, status conferences, and compliance conferences in Part 52 are conducted in the Differentiated Case Management (‘DCM’) Part located at 80 Centre Street, Room 103.” To adjourn a DCM conference or raise any calendar issue about a DCM appearance, call the DCM Clerk at (646) 386-3683. Stipulations to adjourn a conference must state a reason and go to the DCM Clerk at sfc-city-dcm@nycourts.gov. “Do not contact chambers regarding DCM appearances.”
Oral Argument on Motions
A request for oral argument goes in the notice of motion or the opposition papers. Argument is held on Wednesdays, in person, at 111 Centre Street, Room 1045, beginning at 9:45 a.m., and is “subject to default fifteen (15) minutes after the scheduled calendar call.”
Who Argues
“Counsel appearing for scheduled oral arguments are expected to have knowledge of the procedural history and substantive issues of the case, and must have settlement authority.”
Motion Adjournments
A motion scheduled for argument may be adjourned for no more than 30 days from the original date without leave of Court, and only on consent of all sides. The stipulation must state a reason and must be e-filed, with a copy emailed to the Part Clerk, no later than 11:00 a.m. on the Friday before the Wednesday argument date.
Other Requirements
Discovery motions may not be filed without prior approval from the Court. Do not send courtesy paper copies unless the Court requests them. There are no ex parte communications with the Judge or chambers.

Our office appeared for a plaintiff at a compliance conference in the DCM Part, Room 103. Because a motion was outstanding, the parties executed a stipulation adjourning the conference about eight weeks, to a 2:00 p.m. date, and the note of issue date was left to be determined. This is an account of one appearance on one date, not a published rule.
